Quentin Chapman

Senior Mining Engineer and Market Specialist

Mr. Chapman has over 25 year experience as engineer, mining and operations manager and executive management in the international mining sector specializing primarily in base metals (copper, lead, zinc, nickel, etc.) and secondarily in cobalt, gold, precious metals and other non-base metals. Mr. Chapman was with Falconbridge for over ten years, employed initially as a hydrometallurgical research engineer for five years; promoted to Patent Engineer for two years, and eventually promoted to Manager, Market Planning. Mr Chapman co-founded and ran a hydrometallurgical refining facility in Europe for five years and subsequently sold the company and became a consultant to the non-ferrous mining industry through Metal Strategies.

He has a sound technical understanding of all the main unit operations for refining these metals, much of it gained as an employee in the commercial operations of a major non-ferrous metals miner and producer. His background encompasses work on both pyro and hydrometallurgical refining processes and has included the recovery of metal from primary sources (mine concentrates) and recycled secondary materials. Mr. Chapmanā€™s technical background is complemented by a thorough knowledge of base metal markets, including first use applications, specifications, product forms, and the price premiums associated with each refined metal form.
